Krousar Thmey Family Festival 2004

April 5, 2004

Krousar Thmey ("New Family") is an NGO that serves children in need in Cambodia. Founded in 1996 by a young Frenchman, Benoit Duchateau-Arminjon, it now encompasses thirty projects for children all over the country. Krousar Thmey supports four blind schools; four deaf schools; and dozens of deaf classrooms in government schools in various provinces.

Every two years, Krousar Thmey brings together the children from their projects to create a sense of family and to instill tradtional Khmer values and just to have fun together. This year 1,200 children and many adults took over a teachers college in the province of Kampong Cham for four days of games and activities and learning experiences. Several of us from Phnom Penh went for the opening ceremony on the first day.
